Lizard species on three islands off the Mexican Pacific Coast: effects of insularity

This study provides a descriptive panorama of the lizard communities on 3 islands and mainland Pacific coast Mexico, estimating effect insularity (ecological changes between lizards mainland) populations. The included number species, encounter frequency age classes. effects were estimated by comparing these variables, as well basking behavior, activity related to microclimate, perch height among mainland. Of 11 species recorded, 8 occurred islands; however, every insular community was composed 5 (4 are protected Mexican law). for all ranged 0.1 individuals per hour. Lizard predominantly adults. Only 2 Aspidoscelis communis A. lineattissima, shared sites, showing no nor behavior. There signs insularity, classes clear height, suggesting niche expansion. contributes regional knowledge ecological theories such expansion density compensation.
